Training

- GAO Green Book Internal Controls: Explores the organization’s system of internal controls, including the definition of system of internal control, management’s responsibilities and the five components of internal control.
- Control Environment: Discusses management’s responsibilities for internal control and governance.
- Risk Assessment: Provides as an overview of the risk assessment process, including reviewing the U.S Government Accountability Office, Standards for Internal Control in the Federal Government (Green Book) and management’s responsibilities.
- Fraud Overview: Teaches methods of identifying high-risk environments that invite fraudulent activity and techniques to reduce these risks. Students develop skills in conducting fraud risk assessments, including identifying inappropriate behavior in high-risk situations. The class examines the factors leading a business or individual to commit fraud. Students discuss similar motives behind individual and business fraud.
- Professional Conduct and Ethics: This course uses case studies to explore means for handling ethical crises. The course covers:
- Ethical situations in professional and personal lives and tools to assist in decision-making
- Recognizing potential violations of the profession’s rules and regulations
- Alternatives for communicating decisions and delicate issues
- Highlights from the revised AICPA Code of Professional Conduct
- Real-life case studies
- Fund Accounting Fundamentals: Course introduces the concept of fund accounting and how fund accounting allows for analysis regarding best use of limited resources; custodianship of resources; changes in the amount and nature of the net resources of an organization; and legal compliance with laws governing the use of resources.
- Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports: Provides a review of the three components of a CAFR, the Introductory Section, the Financial Section, and the Statistical Section.
- Principles and Practices of Fiscal and Policy Analysis: Reviews the systematic investigation of an issue to allow for a logical conclusion and recommendation. The course covers the process of analyzing a proposal, activity, program or process to determine:
- Who or what is affected
- What is/are the effects
- How and when does/will it operate
- How much does/will it cost
- Who is raising the issue or making the proposal, and why
- How might the problem/issue be resolved
